Counselling

Sometimes the hardest step is realising that someone can help you understand and address some core issues in your life. Stuart [link to Stuart's bio] has experience helping with a range of problems including addiction, alcoholism, depression, anxiety, trauma, body image problems, eating disorders, low self esteem, abuse, homophobia/bullying or relationship concerns. Many of these issues stem from family of origin sources and you may be able to find healthier ways of living by talking about these issues with him.

Stuart's approach is to focus on you as a unique and valuable individual. You'll experience a safe and supportive environment within which these issues can be discussed. He utilises two gentle and nurturing models; these are Pia Mellody’s relational developmental model and the Gestalt psychotherapy model. The goal is for you to develop over time awareness around your behaviours. Through this work you'll connect with your feelings and to be able to see how your feelings are the compass that can lead you to greater self understanding and peace and away from pain.

Gestalt therapy believes that people are born with the ability and resources to solve their own problems and challenges in life. At some point in our lives something interrupts this process and a person can become stuck in fixed patterns and beliefs about themselves. In this form of therapy together we will create a space for you to discover any unhelpful patterns in your life. You will have the opportunity to explore new ways of living and to develop new skills in order to live a more care free and unrestricted life. In our sessions we will work together to discover creative ways to solve problems. In addition you will find a way to integrate all aspects of yourself with the goal of becoming whole and happier.
