Orthotic Therapy: It's all about the feet
-
Do your feet roll in too much?
-
Do you have arch pain?
-
Do you have Achilles problems?
-
Do you have knee pain?
-
Do you have bunions forming?
One solution to these problems is orthotics.
We believe that the future of orthotics lies in the accurate tracking of your foot while you walk, rather than plaster cast of your foot while lying down. That's why we invested $10,000 to bring you GaitScan. This device records thousands of pressure points while you walk over the surface, specifically identifying where the faults in your walking pattern are. This information is used to make a low profile orthotic in the style to suit the type of shoe you wear.
What exactly is an orthotic?
We're talking about a prescription device that can be made from a range of materials, with various tilts, lifts and supports to help control and prevent excessive foot motion. It fits inside your shoe and helps to limit the excessive movement that causes aches and pains.
Does an orthotic fix my feet?
Orthotics only change feet if it is a child who is still growing. In adults the function of an orthotic is to control movement which is outside normal motion, or to relieve or redistribute pressure to treat a particular condition. A problem such as excessive pronation will not be fixed by an orthotic, but it will prevent and limit significant compensatory problems into the legs and lower back.
How long do they last?
This type of orthotic support should last between 3-5 years, depending on how it's used. The shell of the orthotic is actually guaranteed for 10 years. The top coats can be replaced at minimal cost should they wear.
Through the Orthotic Group we can offer a large range of support shoes, Brooks running shoes, and summer sandals
